Writers and Artists Building, Beverly Hills

While strolling around Beverly Hills I couldn’t help but notice this sign –
After a quick Google search I sound out this information
Artists and Writers Building (9507 Santa Monica Blvd.) – This 4 -story office building, built in 1924, has housed a multitude of talented tenants over the years including Charlie Chaplin, Ray Bradbury, Jack Nicholson, and Billy Wilder. The original Spanish Colonial charm has been retained and today the ground floor features shops, while the upper floors still house writers and artists.

Well it’s true the ground floor does now have shops including this one just down the block, but can you believe that the deceased Billy Wilder still has an office –
There are little pockets of movie history all over this town, you just have to take the time to notice.

Here’s a clip from my favorite Billy Wilder movie “Some Like it Hot”

  1. Very cool. Reminds me of a similar “artist’s commune” I visited once, in Chicago. “Some Like it Hot” is one of my favorite movies. Oddly enough, I always gift it, but don’t own it.
